Synopsis

Following the Australian Football League Grand Final, one of the biggest events in the Australian sporting calendar, the local newspaper has pages of reports, analysis and interviews. What would these reports be like if we could strip back the commentary, the gloss, the journalistic stylings? What did the players actually have to say? And who remembers the sources of the quotes? This video poem looks for answers to those questions...

Text

I am enjoying the win
I am trying
I can, right now
I did feel sorry
I didn’t see it
I don't necessarily see
I don't think
I hate the way
I know that
I'll sit back
I love
I'm looking forward
I'm not having a go
I'm not surprised
I'm pleased
I'm pretty down
I'm sure
I'm really happy
I'm there or not
I must admit
I'm worried
I think I've always been one
I've lost two
I've never worn it
I've seen better
I was him
I was supportive
I will say
I won one
I would be
Adam Alastair Allan Andrew Brad Brendon Brett Brian Cyril Dan Gary Grant Guy Jack James Jarrad John Jonathon Jordan Josh Kieren Kurt Lance Leigh Lewis Luke Mark Matt Matthew Michael Nathan Nick Paul Phil Rod Ross Sam Shane Shaun Stuart Ted Tom Trent Will
We've missed a huge opportunity
We've planned for a long time
We went
We were the underdogs
